A tragic road accident claimed the lives of nine people and left 11 others injured in Kyaramma village, Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State, in the early hours of Saturday, June 7, 2025.
Spokesperson for the Jigawa State Police Command, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the incident in a press statement.
He said the crash occurred around 2:00 a.m. when two Volkswagen Golf 3 vehicles collided head-on.

According to preliminary investigations, one of the vehicles, with registration number MKA 687 AY, was driven by Adamu Sunusi from Hadejia LGA and was en route from Abuja to Gujungu.
The second vehicle, registered as KWL 606 KA, was driven by Bashari Danjummai of Sauna, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State, and was heading from Hadejia to Kano.
“Upon reaching Kyaramma village, the two vehicles collided, resulting in the immediate death of nine individuals, including both drivers,” the statement read.
The injured victims were rushed to Ringim General Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. Medical personnel confirmed the deaths of the nine passengers on arrival.
Post-mortem examinations have been completed, and the deceased have been handed over to their families for burial.
Efforts are ongoing to identify all the victims and contact their next of kin.
The Commissioner of Police in Jigawa, CP AT Abdullahi, expressed his deep condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a swift recovery.
He also called on motorists to observe traffic laws, avoid speeding, and ensure their vehicles are in good condition to help prevent such fatal accidents.
