Torrential downpour has destroyed the North-West zonal office of the Federal Institute of Industrial Research (FIIRO) in Kano.
The downpour destroyed the roofing zinc of the centre.
The Director-General of FIIRO, Jummai Tutuwa, made this known in Kano on Tuesday.
Tutuwa, who appealed to Kano State Government to repair the affected building, said the rooftop of the FIIRO’s new central laboratory and tomato processing plant were destroyed.

She noted that the damage would cost millions of naira to repair, saying the centre cannot afford the the money at the moment.
She explained that the institute utilised local raw materials to accelerate growth in food and agro allied processing, adding that the tomato processing plant was established in Kano to reduce post-harvest losses recorded by farmers.
Similarly, the chairman of FIIRO’s business and investment committee, Ajayi Nicholas, called for the intervention of the National Assembly lawmakers from Kano State.
