Hisbah arrests 19 during raid on Kano hotel

The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested 19 people during a raid on a hotel in the Nassarawa Government Reserved Area (GRA) of Kano over alleged involvement in immoral activities.

The suspects comprise 12 women and seven men, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the board’s Deputy Commander General, Dr. Mujahid Aminuddeen.

He said the operation was carried out at a hotel identified as ICU, where officers allegedly discovered activities considered contrary to the state’s moral code.

According to the statement, preliminary findings showed that some of the suspects travelled from neighbouring states to Kano, while the board also expressed concern over the alleged allocation of hotel rooms to underage youths.

Aminuddeen said investigations were ongoing to establish the level of involvement of each suspect before further action is taken.

He explained that suspects found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law, while first-time offenders would undergo counselling and be released to their parents or guardians.

The Hisbah official added that the board remains committed to enforcing the state’s moral and social regulations while ensuring that due process is followed in handling the case.
