‘I regret sleeping with you’ — Married man, feminist clash over affair

An alleged affair between married gym instructor Dennis Emmanuel and social media feminist Folakemi Martins has sparked a public dispute, with both parties offering conflicting accounts of how their relationship began and ended.

The controversy erupted after Emmanuel accused Martins of harassment, stalking and attempts to interfere with his marriage in a lengthy post on X, formerly Twitter.

Emmanuel admitted that he had a sexual relationship with Martins but claimed she continued contacting him after he decided to end the affair.

According to his account, the relationship began on May 9, 2026, after he told Martins that he was married and was seeking what he described as a “side chic.”

He posted screenshots of alleged conversations between them, claiming the exchanges showed that Martins knew he was married and initially accepted the nature of their relationship.

Emmanuel alleged that the relationship later became strained as Martins allegedly demanded greater attention and affection and sought a more committed relationship.

Some of the screenshots he shared purportedly showed Martins asking about future meetings and intimacy, while others contained complaints about Emmanuel’s perceived lack of affection and communication.

In one alleged exchange, Martins reportedly questioned why Emmanuel had withdrawn when she was asking him about marriage.

She also allegedly complained that she had to repeatedly ask for intimacy, video calls, meetings, clarity and affection.

Emmanuel said he eventually ended the relationship, citing what he described as Martins’ “aggressive” and “condescending” behaviour.

He alleged that she continued contacting him after the breakup and, alongside some of her friends, stalked him and his wife on social media.

In another post, Emmanuel claimed that Martins had arrived at his residence with unidentified men who allegedly banged on his door.

He said he decided to make the matter public after it allegedly began affecting his reputation, marriage and family.

However, Martins disputed Emmanuel’s version of events.

Speaking with Saturday PUNCH, she said she never agreed to be his “side chick” and maintained that she was unaware he was married when their relationship began.

“I’m currently working on enough proof and doing everything legally. I know everyone has been trying to get my side, but little proof has been out on X.

“I never agreed to be a side chick and was never aware of any marriage,” she said.

Martins declined to provide further details, saying she was pursuing the matter through legal channels.

“Any other information on my side of the whole story will be given once the court allows,” she added.

The dispute has since generated reactions on X, with users weighing in on Emmanuel’s admission that he was married while involved in the relationship.

Some users criticised his decision to make the dispute public, while others focused on the allegations of harassment and the conflicting accounts presented by both parties.

The controversy remained unresolved publicly as of the time of reporting, with both Emmanuel and Martins maintaining different accounts of the relationship and its aftermath.
