‘I was robbed,’ Portable reacts to loss against Carter Efe

Afrobeats artiste Portable has protested his defeat to comedian Carter Efe in a celebrity boxing bout, alleging that the contest was unfairly judged.

Speaking during an Instagram live session after the fight, Portable claimed he was “robbed,” accusing his opponent of using his height and reach advantage in ways he considered unprofessional.

“I was robbed. Carter Efe was not professional enough. He was strangling me with his long hands. I threw many punches—why didn’t you count them?” the singer said, also demanding payment of about ₦200 million in streaming revenue from the organisers.

Despite his complaints, Portable downplayed the loss, saying personal milestones mattered more than retaining his title. He revealed that he had just welcomed a baby boy, describing fatherhood as more valuable than any championship belt.

“You can buy a belt, but you can’t buy a child,” he added.

The reaction follows Friday night’s bout at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, where Carter Efe secured a unanimous decision victory after three rounds. All three judges scored the contest 30–27 in favour of the comedian, ending Portable’s reign as celebrity boxing champion.

Portable had entered the fight confident of extending his unbeaten run, having previously defeated Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington.

However, in the ring, Carter Efe controlled the bout, using his height and reach to land cleaner punches and dictate the pace across all three rounds, ultimately sealing his emergence as the new champion.
