The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu, has assured the residents of Kwara State and Nigerians at large that security agencies will reclaim communities currently threatened by terrorists.
The IGP gave the assurance during an operational visit to the Nigeria Police Force command in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, where he met stakeholders to review strategies against insecurity on Monday, March 9, 2026.
Disu said the visit was aimed at engaging critical stakeholders and assessing security strategies to address emerging threats in the state.
He urged the residents of Kwara State cooperate with security agencies, stressing that collective action remained vital to tackling insecurity nationwide.
The IGP said: “I am in Kwara to meet stakeholders and discuss ways to tackle terrorists tormenting our people.
“Criminals cannot drive us from our communities. We are determined to take back our communities from terrorists.

“I know Kwara and the efforts you have been making. We will continue working together to ensure these criminals are defeated.”
The IGP also assured that the welfare of police officers would remain a priority under his leadership.
Disu added that additional security operations would be launched to restore public confidence and sustain Kwara’s reputation as a peaceful state.
Disu also cautioned against profiling cattle rearers, noting that not all Fulani herders should be regarded as criminals.
He urged residents to promptly report suspicious movements or credible intelligence to security agencies for swift action.
The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, commended the IGP for choosing the state for his first operational visit after assuming office.
“We are grateful the IGP chose Kwara for his first operational visit. We will continue to cooperate to achieve lasting peace in the state,” Ojo said.
