Indigene stabs Ondo varsity student to death over N1,000 dispute

An indigene, suspected to be cultist, has stabbed a student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) in Ondo State to death during an argument over N1,000.

It was gathered that the indigene of the community, who stabbed the student after an argument ensued between them, fled after the incident occurred.

It was learned that the colleagues of the late student went on rampage immediately after the stabbing and razed a building belonging to a relative of the assailant in which he lived.

“The student was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. His death angered other students who set the suspect’s house ablaze,” an eyewitness, who craved anonymity, disclosed on Thursday.

Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Funmilayo Odunlami, said the AAUA student died in the hospital.

In his reaction, the traditional ruler of the community, Alale of Akungba, Oba Isaac Adeyeye, called for restraint and public peace, urging the students of the university to eschew breakdown of law and order.
