inDrive app installs surge 96% in Nigeria

Ride-hailing platform, inDrive, has recorded a 96 per cent increase in app installations in Nigeria, strengthening its position in the country’s increasingly competitive mobility market.

According to independent third-party data from Sensor Tower, the platform emerged as the number one ride-hailing app in Nigeria by installs, as more consumers seek affordable and flexible transportation options.

The company said the growth reflected increasing consumer interest in its “fair choice” model, which allows passengers and drivers to negotiate and agree on fares directly rather than relying on algorithmically determined prices.

inDrive currently operates in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Benin City, Ibadan, Owerri and Enugu.

Beyond conventional ride-hailing, the platform offers services including Economy, Courier, Comfort, One Click and TukTuk, while its Delivery service caters to businesses seeking flexible options for transporting goods and packages.

The Country Manager of inDrive Nigeria, Timothy Oladimeji, said the company’s growth demonstrated the relevance of a model built around consumer choice and affordability.

“The growth we have recorded reflects the strength of our model and our deep understanding of the Nigerian market,” Oladimeji said.

He said the company would continue expanding beyond ride-hailing by developing a wider mobility and delivery ecosystem for passengers, drivers and businesses.

According to him, the platform is focused on providing passengers with greater flexibility and access to affordable mobility while creating earning opportunities for drivers.

Oladimeji added that the company would continue investing in safety, service quality and technology as part of its long-term commitment to the Nigerian market.

inDrive said it operates with a relatively low service fee, while the final fare is determined through direct agreement between drivers and passengers.

Unlike conventional ride-hailing platforms that use algorithms to set fares, the company said its model allows both parties to negotiate a price they consider acceptable.

As the mobility sector continues to expand, inDrive said it was also open to drivers and mobility investors seeking opportunities to join its platform and serve customers across Nigeria.
