The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved a request by a law firm for the release of the certified true copy of the National Register of Voters and all existing polling units across Nigeria, pegging the cost of production at N1.5 billion.
This was contained in a statement signed by INEC Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, on October 13, 2025, a copy of which was obtained on Thursday.
Oriaran-Anthony stated that INEC granted approval for the request under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2011 and Section 15 of the Electoral Act 2022, which allows access to public records upon formal application.
Oriaran-Anthony said the law firm’s (V-C Ottaokpuku & Associates in Abuja) request covered the entire country’s National Register of Voters and all existing polling units in every electoral ward nationwide.
