INEC distributes sensitive materials for Ekiti governorship election

The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the distribution of sensitive election materials ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State.

The distribution of the materials was held at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) office in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

The distribution was supervised by the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Bunmi Omoseyindemi.

INEC officials assigned to each of the 16 Local Government Areas of the state were seen signing and collecting the materials allocated to their respective councils and loading same into waiting vehicles with police escorts.

Speaking with journalists on the exercise, Omoseyindemi described the process as seamless, restating the commission’s readiness to conduct a violent free, credible and transparent election.

Omoseyindemi said the distribution of the sensitive materials started early and was strictly supervised so as to ensure that the materials get to their intended locations early and intact.

The INEC official also appealed to eligible voters to come out enmass and exercise their civic responsibility for the candidate of their choice on Saturday.
