INEC sets September 19 for by-elections in four states

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has scheduled September 19, 2026, for the conduct of five by-elections across Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Delta states.

The commission’s Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Tunde Oketola, confirmed the date in an interview with newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday.

Oketola said the polls would cover one federal constituency and four state constituencies.

The federal constituency election will hold in Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency of Gombe State.

In Bauchi State, voters in Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies will elect representatives, while the Udu State Constituency in Delta State will also be contested.

The fifth election will take place in Dawakin Kudu State Constituency of Kano State.

INEC is expected to release further details on the arrangements for the elections as the September 19 polling date approaches.
