Former Ogun Central Senator, Iyabo Obasanjo, has returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), barely a week after resigning from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo rejoined the PDP on Monday during the unveiling of the party’s deputy governorship candidate in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Addressing party members at the PDP secretariat, Obasanjo expressed confidence that the party’s governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu, would emerge victorious in the 2027 election.
She said she would make further comments during her formal declaration ceremony but hinted that she had grievances to address.
“I have a lot to say and many people to call out, but I will reserve my comments until my official welcome back into the party,” she said.
Obasanjo recently resigned from the APC, citing rejection, maltreatment and a lack of respect from the party leadership.
In her resignation letter, she criticised the process that produced Senator Solomon Adeola (Yayi) as the party’s consensus governorship candidate, alleging that stakeholders were not consulted and some of her supporters were denied access to the venue of the announcement.
She joined the APC in January after registering in Ward 11, Ibogun, in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State. Before then, she served as Ogun State Commissioner for Health and represented Ogun Central in the Senate between 2007 and 2011.
