The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release of 632,788 results from the first day of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), marking a notably swift turnaround.
According to the board, candidates who sat for the exam on Thursday, April 16, can now access their scores.
This was confirmed in a statement shared by JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, via his X (formerly Twitter) account.
Candidates are required to check their results by sending “UTMERESULT” via SMS to either 55019 or 66019, using the same phone number they registered with.
For now, only score viewing is available, while the option to print result slips will be activated later.
The UTME, which commenced on April 16, is scheduled to run through April 22 at various centres nationwide, with additional batches of results to be released as the exercise progresses.
JAMB also cautioned candidates and the public against any attempt to alter or falsify results.
The board disclosed that two candidates and a parent have already been arrested for allegedly manipulating UTME scores using artificial intelligence and other digital tools.
It stressed that such actions constitute a criminal offence and warned that anyone found guilty of examination malpractice or result tampering would be prosecuted accordingly.
