Several journalists covering the commissioning of projects by the North East Development Commission (NEDC) in Bauchi State were injured in a road accident on Friday.
The media personnel, drawn from various organisations, were part of a delegation led by the Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari, for the handover of completed projects to the Bauchi State Government.
The crash occurred along the Yashi–Yelwan Duguri Road in Alkaleri Local Government Area, shortly after the delegation commissioned a Government Secondary School project in Yelwan Duguri.
Witnesses said several reporters and cameramen sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The injured journalists were initially taken to the General Hospital in Yelwan Duguri for emergency treatment before being transferred to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital and the Bauchi Specialist Hospital for further medical care.
Those affected include staff of Channels Television, African Independent Television (AIT), the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Arise Television, as well as members of the Correspondents’ Chapel and other media organisations.
