Kaduna swears in three commissioners, 18 special advisers

Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Hadiza Balarabe, has sworn in three commissioners and 18 special advisers, urging the new appointees to serve with integrity and remain accountable to the people.

Balarabe gave the charge on Thursday during the swearing-in ceremony, which also covered the Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration) and the Counsellor on Infrastructure.

She reminded the appointees that their oaths of allegiance and office, as prescribed by the Constitution, carried a responsibility to serve the state faithfully and without fear or favour.

“The Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Office are not mere words because they bind you before God and the people of Kaduna State to serve faithfully,” she said.

The deputy governor described the appointments as a call to service rather than a privilege, urging the appointees to demonstrate humility, integrity and commitment to the state’s development.

She said the appointments reflected Governor Uba Sani’s confidence in their abilities and urged them to justify the trust through effective service delivery.

Balarabe also defended the timing of the appointments amid the election season, saying the needs of residents could not be put on hold because of the electoral calendar.

“Elections have their calendar, but the needs of our people do not wait for it,” she said.

She said the administration remained committed to building a peaceful, prosperous and inclusive Kaduna State, irrespective of political, ethnic or religious affiliations.

Highlighting the government’s achievements since May 2023, Balarabe said communities previously divided by conflict were reconciling through the Kaduna Peace Model, while farmlands and markets were reopening.

She added that more than 500 schools previously closed because of insecurity had reopened, while over 300,000 out-of-school children returned to classrooms in 2025.

The deputy governor also said hundreds of classrooms had been built or renovated, with tens of thousands of teachers trained.

In the health sector, she said 255 primary healthcare centres had been upgraded to Level Two, while improvements were ongoing in general hospitals.

Balarabe further disclosed that about 160 road projects covering approximately 1,335 kilometres were opening up communities across the state’s 23 local government areas. She also cited planned light rail and bus rapid transit projects as part of the administration’s transport development agenda.

She urged the newly appointed officials to serve as a link between the government and grassroots communities, stressing that their performance should demonstrate the value of their appointments.

“Let your performance be the argument that convinces the sceptical and the proof that justifies the trust of the supportive,” she said.

The three commissioners sworn in were Benjamin Dalhat Solomon Kure for Sports Development, Amina Akilu Dalhat for Special Duties I, and Abdullahi Garba Abbas for Special Duties II.

Haliru Musa Soba was sworn in as Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration), while Balarabe Muhammad Bello assumed office as Counsellor on Infrastructure. Eighteen special advisers were also sworn in.
