Kano State Government has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew to avoid a breakdown of law and order following tensions generated from the collation of results of the governorship and state Assembly elections in the state.
The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Muhammad Garba, made the announcement via a statement issued on Monday.
Garba said the decision was to prevent hoodlums from causing chaos in the already-tensed situation.

The commissioner, however, enjoined the people of the state to remain indoors, saying security operatives would not spare anyone or group bent on causing trouble.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in the early hours of Monday, declared Abba Yusuf of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) winner of the March 18 governorship election in the state, defeating the deputy governor of Kano State, Yusuf Gawuna, in the poll.
The results have generated tension in the state, prompting the government’s proactive measures to avert chaos.
