Kano zoo receives python rescued from residential building

A python found inside a residential building in the Daneji area of Kano State has been transferred to the Kano Zoological Garden for proper care.

The Managing Director of the zoo, Hon. Musayyib Kawu Ungogo, said the reptile was recovered after residents alerted authorities about its presence in the house.

He explained that the animal was first secured by an elderly resident before officials from the zoological garden intervened to take custody of it.

Ungogo said the zoo monitored the situation from the time the report was received to ensure the python was safely relocated without posing a threat to residents.

He added that the snake is now being kept at the Kano Zoological Garden, where wildlife experts will monitor its condition and provide the necessary care.

The zoo boss commended the residents for avoiding actions that could have endangered lives or harmed the animal, urging the public to notify relevant authorities whenever wild animals are sighted in homes or other populated areas.

He noted that timely reporting would enable trained personnel to safely rescue and relocate such animals while protecting both the public and wildlife.
