Kebbi ADC suspends chairman, state executives

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State has announced the suspension of key members of its State Working Committee (SWC) leadership.

State Publicity Secretary, Jamilu Muhammad, disclosed this while addressing journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.

According to him, after extensive consultations with critical stakeholders, the “genuine” SWC — elected through congresses — unanimously agreed to suspend the State Chairman, Engr. Sufiyanu Bala; Deputy Chairman, Junaidu Muhammed Mudi; and Secretary, Hawwa’u Muhammed.

Muhammad said the suspended officials had been replaced with an interim leadership comprising Abdulrazaq Abubakar Isah Iko as Chairman and Adamu Aliyu as Secretary.

He accused the affected members of lacking transparency, accountability, and the moral capacity to lead the party, alleging they had deviated from its principles and failed to unite members.

“They took unilateral decisions, ran the party with poor leadership and administrative inefficiency, and engaged in questionable use of funds without the knowledge of other executive members,” Muhammad claimed.

The ADC also rejected what it described as the “selfish hijack” of the party by “Abuja nomadic politicians” and condemned early political campaigns conducted in the party’s name, saying such actions violate the Electoral Act.

The party urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to act against the alleged violators and warned the public to avoid dealing with the suspended executives until further notice.

Muhammad affirmed that all other state party members remain active and encouraged them to work with the interim leadership to strengthen the ADC in Kebbi.
