Kwankwaso accuses Tinubu’s govt of neglecting northern Nigeria

Former Kano State governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of marginalizing Northern Nigeria in the allocation of national resources and development projects.

Speaking at an event in Kano State on Thursday, Kwankwaso criticized what he described as an uneven distribution of federal resources, alleging that the current government is prioritizing development in the Southern region at the expense of the North.

“This administration has focused primarily on developing one region while abandoning others. The national budget clearly reflects this imbalance,” Kwankwaso said. “This is not how a government that claims to represent all Nigerians should operate.”

The comments come just 48 hours after Kwankwaso’s visit to President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, sparking speculation about possible political alignments with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, no official details from the meeting have been disclosed.

Decrying the state of infrastructure in the North, Kwankwaso lamented his recent road journey from Abuja to Kano due to flight delays, describing the roads as “terrible” and “abandoned.”

“From Abuja to Kaduna to Kano was a hell. These roads have been under construction since the early APC administration, yet nothing has changed. Meanwhile, we hear about massive projects being executed in the South and East,” he added.

Kwankwaso also raised concerns over growing insecurity in Northern Nigeria and urged the Tinubu administration to ensure equitable development across all regions of the country.

He concluded by calling on the Federal Government to adopt a more inclusive approach to governance, warning that continued neglect of any part of the country could deepen national division.
