Kwara govt sets up task force to tackle student loitering, teachers’ lateness

The Kwara State Government has inaugurated a high-level committee to curb student loitering and address teacher lateness in public schools across the state, as part of efforts to enhance discipline and punctuality in the education sector.

During the inauguration held at the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development in Ilorin, Commissioner Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe said the initiative aligns with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s education reform agenda.

He emphasized the committee’s mandate to restore order in schools and urged members to work with unity, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility.

“Work as a team to eliminate student loitering and improve punctuality among teachers. Carry out your assignment with accountability before God,” Dr. Olohungbebe advised.

Supporting the move, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Mallam Tahueed Bello, and the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Professor Sheu Adaramaja, pledged full support for the committee.

They said the initiative reflects the governor’s commitment to giving every child an opportunity to succeed.

The event was attended by senior officials, including the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Olanrewaju Rebecca Bake; TESCOM Permanent Member III, Chief (Mrs) Bosede Daniel; SUBEB Permanent Members Hon. Dorcas Opeyemi and Hajia Habitat Muasu, alongside top directors from the Ministry, TESCOM, and SUBEB.
