Lafarge Africa rebrands as HBM Nigeria Plc, unveils new corporate identity

Lafarge Africa Plc has officially unveiled a new corporate identity and changed its name to HBM Nigeria Plc, marking a major milestone in the company’s transformation and strategic repositioning following changes in its shareholder structure.

The company said the rebranding reflects its evolution as a leading building solutions provider in Nigeria, combining strong local foundations with expanded global industrial collaboration. It added that the name change will not affect its operations, employees, customers, shareholders, or its commitment to Nigeria’s economic and infrastructural development.

Speaking at the unveiling, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, described the transition as the beginning of a new phase focused on operational excellence, innovation, sustainability, and long-term value creation.

According to him, HBM Nigeria Plc will continue to deliver cement, concrete, aggregates, and other building solutions that support infrastructure development, housing expansion, and industrialisation in the country.

He explained that the rebranding will be implemented through a phased and structured process across all operations nationwide, assuring stakeholders of seamless business continuity and sustained investment.

Alade-Akinyemi further noted that the company remains committed to creating long-term economic and social value while strengthening its relationships with employees, customers, investors, and host communities.

The Chairman of HBM Nigeria Plc, Gbenga Oyebode, also spoke at the event, expressing appreciation to shareholders, the board, management, and staff for their contributions to the company’s growth over the years.

He said the new identity positions the company for sustained success while preserving the values that have shaped its legacy.

“I would like to express my sincere appreciation to our shareholders for their continued trust, to the Board and Management for their leadership, and to our employees whose dedication and commitment continue to drive the company forward. The Minister of Works, David Umahi, praised the company’s contributions to Nigeria’s infrastructure development, noting its role in delivering key projects across the country.

He described the company’s products as reliable and of high quality, commending its long-standing involvement in national development efforts.

The event was attended by dignitaries including the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey; representatives of the Governors of Lagos and Ogun States; traditional rulers; industry leaders; and members of the company’s board and executive management.

The company said the transition to HBM Nigeria Plc will continue to be rolled out progressively across branding, operations, and customer communications to ensure smooth implementation and continuity of service.
