Lecturer delivered of septuplets in Anambra, needs N19m

A lecturer in the Department of Business Administration, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) Awka, Anambra State, Uzodike Ngozi, has been delivered of septuplets.

It was gathered that the babies – two boys and five girls – were delivered at the Obijackson Women and Children Hospital, Okija in Ihiala Local Government Area Anambra State on Sunday.

One of the babies, a girl, was said to have died after the delivery.

However, it was learned that the hospital has threatened to stop medication on the remaining six babies if the parents fail to pay the N19 million billed by the hospital.

The husband, Celestine Uzodike, said the babies were delivered prematurely at 26 weeks, adding that the hospital said the babies would need to be placed in the intensive care unit.

He said, “The babies came out prematurely at 26 weeks and the hospital said they will need to be placed in the intensive care unit and each of them will cost N3 million.

“One of them has died, remaining six babies, that is why they billed us like that.”

Uzodike, who appealed to the Federal Government to pay the two years’ salary arrears owned to his wife, called on corporate organisations and individuals to help the family.

He lamented that his wife has never been paid any salary since she was engaged in 2020, even after her promotion to Lecturer II.

Uzodike hails from Omogho in Orumba North Local Government Area and is a junior aide to Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo.
