The All Progressives Congress in Ogun State has directed that its local government congress scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026, must commence at 12 noon across all councils.
The party said the directive is mandatory and intended to ensure coordination, uniformity and transparency in the conduct of the exercise statewide.
The state Publicity Secretary, Femi Nuberu, announced the decision in a statement issued to journalists on Saturday.
According to Nuberu, no local government is permitted to begin the congress earlier than the stipulated time, urging party officials, electoral officers, aspirants and members to fully comply with the directive.
He noted that the move is part of efforts to uphold order, discipline and credible internal processes within the party, expressing confidence that the congress would strengthen unity and organisational structure.
The party also commended members, leaders and stakeholders for their conduct during the recently concluded ward congress, describing the peaceful exercise as evidence of unity, loyalty and commitment to the party’s ideals.
It added that the level of cooperation and respect for due process displayed during the ward congress reflected the maturity of members and reinforced confidence in the party’s internal democratic processes.
