Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, have dismissed allegations by former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, claiming there was a plan to remove the monarch from office.
Fayose had earlier taken to his X handle to allege that Makinde was preparing to initiate steps to dethrone the Olubadan, including issuing a query over the monarch’s absence at a recent failed coronation ceremony involving some Ibadan high chiefs.
The former governor wrote: “I heard reliably that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is plotting the removal of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rahidi Adewolu Ladoja.
“The plot is to commence this week, with Government Query to be issued against the Olubadan, citing his absence at the failed coronation of High Chiefs in Ibadanland two weeks ago, and other allegations.
“As for us, we will be watching the Sìgìdì of Seyi Makinde tó fẹ́ se eré ẹ̀tẹ́…”
Reacting, the media aide to the Olubadan, Adeola Oloko, said there was no dispute between the governor and the monarch that could justify such allegations. He noted that the report appeared to be a rumour without any basis.

“There is no friction between the governor and the Olubadan. The claim is strange and lacks any foundation,” he said.
Also responding, the Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, said the government had never discussed or considered removing the monarch.
He described the allegation as politically driven and urged the public to disregard it, stressing that government actions are guided by credible motives and due process.
Oyelade further stated that the claim should not be taken seriously, adding that such narratives only serve to distract from governance and undermine democratic discourse.
