Mammoth crowd as Buhari, Tinubu attend Bauchi APC rally

A mammoth crowd of party supporters and other residents on Monday thronged the streets of Bauchi to receive President Muhammadu Buhari and the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, on a campaign tour of the state.

Buhari was received at the the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport by Tinubu, the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, governors, and other party chieftains on Monday morning.

The airport reception was also joined by Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, who led the delegation to the palace of the Emir of Bauchi, Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu.

Buhari and his entourage, after paying homage to the Emir, moved to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, the venue of the APC presidential and governorship rally in Bauchi State.

However, President Buhari could not address the APC supporters due to electrical glitch encountered mid-way into the programme.

The President later handed over the party’s flag to Tinubu, bringing the rally to an end.

Meanwhile, Kebbi State Governor, Abubakar Bagudu, who spoke on behalf of APC governors at the rally, expressed appreciation to President Buhari for the people-centered policies which he said enriched poor farmers and aided the poor and vulnerable.

Bagudu said the APC governors are solidly behind Tinubu in line with the directive of Buhari for all party members to ensure the victory of “his friend and partner, Asiwaju Tinubu”.

He, therefore, urged the people of Bauchi State to replicate the support they have always accorded President Buhari to Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.

Others at the rally were the APC’s vice-presidential candidate, Sen. Kashim Shettima; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; and Governors Muhammad Badaru Abubakar (Jigawa), Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), Babagana Zulum (Borno), and Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), among others.
