Man jailed for stealing plank

A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in the Mapo area of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, has sentenced a 30 year-old man, Pelumi Olusola, to three months in prison for stealing a plank at a site.

The prosecutor, Inspector Oluseye Akinola, told the court that the convict committed the crime at a site in Lagelu Estate, Felele, Ibadan, on May 29, 2025.

According to Akinola, a security personnel caught the convict removing the plank at an abandoned site.

He added that the offence contravened the provision of section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 vol. ii law of Oyo State 2000.

The Magistrate, O.O. Latunji, on Tuesday, June 3, convicted and sentenced Olusola based on his guilty plea and the evidence tendered by the prosecution against him.

Latunji advised the man to stay away from committing further crime in future as he might not be lucky with soft punishment.
