Man nabbed for selling 5-day-old son for N1.5m

The operatives of the Ebonyi State Police Command have arrested a middle-aged man, Chukwuma Onwe, for allegedly selling his 5-day-old son for N1.5 million.

Onwe was apprehended when his wife, Philomena Iroko, alerted her neighbour, who informed the police of the husband’s action.

The baby boy was said to have been sold to a woman, Chinyere Ugochukwu, who has also been nabbed by the police.

Bandits abduct construction worker in Katsina

The Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident on Saturday, October 11, 2025.

Ukandu disclosed that the baby had been recovered from the alleged buyer.

Ukandu said the father of the child was arrested alongside the alleged buyer at Azugwu area of Abakaliki Local Government Area of Ebonyi State on Friday.
