A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, has sentenced an 18-year-old mechanic, Abdulmalik Hamza, to six months imprisonment for stealing a pack of ‘Fresh Yo’ yogurt from a shop.
The prosecution counsel, Inspector Ijuptil Thiawur, told the court that the case was reported by the surveillance team of the Nasarawa Gwom Police Station on September 30, 2025.
Thiawur said police officers were alerted that the convict had broken into a shop, adding that the mechanic was arrested with a pack of yoghurt.

Thiawu said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 282 of the Plateau Penal Code Law.
The magistrate, Irene Pati, summarily tried and sentenced the convict, who pleaded guilty, on Wednesday, October 22.
Pati, however, gave the convict an option of fine of N20,000.
