Minister hails Uba Sani for transforming Kaduna’s agricultural sector

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, has praised Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for transforming the state’s agricultural and agro-industrial landscape within two and a half years.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in Kaduna on Wednesday, Kyari described the governor as “a reference point” in Nigeria’s agriculture sector, noting that his policies align with President Bola Tinubu’s food security agenda.

He highlighted Kaduna’s pioneering role as the first state to launch a Special Agro-Processing Zone (SAPZ) and lauded its value addition initiatives in crop and livestock production.

Kyari, who toured key agro-industrial projects including OLAM Poultry Farm, Tomato Jos, and the Agricultural Quality Assurance Centre (AQAC), said the investments were creating jobs and curbing rural-urban migration.

Minister of State for Agriculture, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, also commended Kaduna for exceeding the Malabo Declaration’s 10% agriculture budget target, with a current allocation of 12.5%.

Governor Sani said the state is investing heavily in agriculture, which contributes 43% of Kaduna’s GDP and employs 60% of its workforce, adding that 900 trucks of fertiliser have been distributed free to smallholder farmers across the state.
