Missing UniJos student found dead

A 500-level Quantity Surveying student of University of Jos (UniJos), Adeyemo Temitope, has been found dead, days after he was reportedly attacked by unknown assailants in Jos, the capital of Plateau State.

The incident was announced on Friday by his close friend, Meshak Gimba, a 400-level Psychology student of the institution, who disclosed the news on X.

“Adeyemo Oluwafemi Temitope has now been confirmed dead. He has been found, but not alive,” Gimba wrote.

Temitope’s body was said to have discovered three days after he was declared missing following an attack in Jos.

The university’s vice-chancellor, Tanko Ishaya, was said to have promised to contact the deceased’s family for proper identification and necessary arrangements.

The university’s Chief Security Officer, Agama Solomon, also confirmed the incident.

Solomon said: “On Wednesday, he was declared missing. This morning, we were told that his corpse is at the university teaching hospital.

“So, myself, the vice-chancellor, dean of student affairs, and other staff went to the hospital to confirm whether it was truly his corpse. We discovered that indeed, it was him. His close friend identified him.”

Solomon added that the university management had informed the family and was expecting them to arrive for further arrangements.

Temitope’s death comes amid heightened security concerns in Jos, following the killing of about 28 people and injuries to several others in Angwan Rukuba, a community neighbouring the university in Jos North Local Government Area.
