A Delta State woman narrowly escaped a horrifying attack by her son, who allegedly tried to remove her eyes for ritual purposes.
Mrs. Oke Eregarnoma recounted to journalists from her hospital bed that her son, Emma Eregarnoma, invited her to his home on Caroline Street, Okuokoko, under the pretense of showing her a “surprise package.”
Upon arrival, she noticed her son in an unusually joyful mood.
He reportedly increased the volume of his music system before suddenly locking the door and attempting to strangle her and remove her eyes.
Mrs. Oke said she screamed for help, but the loud music prevented neighbors from hearing her cries.
After struggling with her son for several minutes, she managed to break free and run outside, where neighbors came to her rescue.
She further revealed that prior to the attack, her son had boasted that he “must drive GLK this week,” though the meaning of this statement remains unclear.
Emma Eregarnoma was apprehended and taken into custody at the Orerokpe Divisional Police Headquarters in Okpe Local Government Area.
Delta State Police Acting Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect is currently in police custody for investigation.
