Mr Macaroni to police: Don’t allow politicians divide us

Popular Nigerian comedian, Debo Adedayo, well known as Mr Macaroni, has warned police officers against arresting Nigerians during protest, saying “we must not allow politicians divide us”.

Mr Macaroni, who condemned the shooting of teargas to disperse youths holding the memorial of the #EndSARS protest at Lekki tollgate in Lagos State on Thursday, said the protesters only demanded “better society that all can benefit from”.

The Star had reported that police officers dispersed the protesters holding the memorial rally organised to mark the second anniversary of the #EndSARS protest which occurred on October 20, 2020.

Reacting via a statement shared on his social media accounts, the popular online skit maker said the government must protect the people and not “oppress and kill us”.

He stated: “All we want is justice! We love Nigeria so much and I believe that this country can be better but we all have a huge role to play.

“Our government must realise that their duty is to serve and protect the people. Not oppress and kill us. All we want is a better society that all can benefit from.

“Even police officers are not exempted! Even though una still throw tear gas at us today, Nigeria must be better for you! So that you will stop transferring aggression on fellow Nigerians!

“The government must do right by the people and we the people must also be ready to do the work!

“We are all we have! So we must always stay united. We must not allow politicians divide us. This country must work before we all become victims of a country that has refused to work!” Mr Macaroni said.

The famous comedian further stated that the survivor who was arrested while addressing journalists has been released.

“For all our fallen heroes! We will never forget!” he added.
