NDLEA arrests drug baron, recovers cash, cannabis shipment in Lagos

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a wanted drug baron, Francis Chijioke Ibemesi, also known as Chisco Bee, following weeks of intelligence gathering and covert surveillance by the Agency’s Special Operations Unit.

Ibemesi, 42, who operates as a businessman and hotelier, was arrested in the early hours of Saturday, November 15, at his Daisy Garden Hotel in the Ago Palace area of Isolo, Lagos.

He is the Managing Director of Franc CJ Ibemesi Nig. Ltd.

After his arrest, operatives led him to his warehouse on Pius Ezeobi Street, also in Isolo, where the NDLEA recovered 42 jumbo bags and four cartons of “Loud”, a high-grade cannabis strain, weighing 1,762.8kg.

The agency also seized foreign currencies found in his possession, including $11,600, £2,000, €2,200, and 50 Canadian dollars.

NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said the arrest marks a major breakthrough in efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks in Lagos.
