NDLEA nabs couple in Niger, recovers drugs in Lagos, Ogun raids

The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a couple, Abdullahi Umar and his wife, Adama Umar, over alleged drug dealing in Niger State.

Umar, 32, and his 25-year-old wife were apprehended during a search of their home in Takuti village, Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State, where 118 kilograms of skunk were recovered from their kitchen on Thursday, April 9, 2026.

The NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, April 12.

Babafemi added that three suspects – Azeez Sanni, Olayinka Oke, and Adekunle Adeyemi – were arrested with 34 kilograms of skunk when NDLEA operatives raided Sango Under Bridge in the Sango Ota area of Ogun State on April 7, while 56.2kg of same substance was recovered from a 26-year-old female suspect, Ayoka Akinwale, along Onitsha-Owerri Road in Owerri, Imo State on Saturday, April 11.

He noted that NDLEA operatives acting on credible intelligence on April 7 intercepted a Chisco Transport luxury bus going to Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, along Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.

He said a search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 15 kilograms of Scottish Loud, a strong strain of cannabis, concealed in one of the compartments of the bus, adding that two suspects, Kingsley Nsofor and Opara Ifeanyi, were arrested.

“In another interdiction operation in Lagos, NDLEA officers on Saturday 11th April at Mushin area intercepted a truck conveying assorted goods going to Onitsha, Anambra State. A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of 26,800 bottles of codeine-based syrup and the subsequent arrest of two suspects: Adesunloye Dada and Chibuzor Chime,” Babafemi disclosed.
