Nigeria thrash Guinea in women’s U17 World Cup qualifier

Nigeria’s under-17 women’s football team, the Flamingos, defeated Guinea 5-0 in their U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier in Abidjan on Saturday.

The match was played at the Stade Félix Houphouet-Boigny.

The Nigerian side dominated throughout, with captain Harmony Chidi delivering a standout captain’s performance.

Chidi scored immediately from kickoff, giving the Flamingos a dream start and early lead.

The forward scored again in the 13th minute with a superb long-range strike against Guinea.

The Flamingos maintained pressure, and Robo Queens striker Oluwakemi Adegbuyi scored the third in the 37th minute.

Hull City promoted to Premier League for first time in 9 years

Three minutes later, Chidi completed her hat-trick with a calm finish, capping a brilliant first-half display.

Nigeria kept the tempo after halftime, and Mary Dunstan sealed victory in the 56th minute.

The result gives the Flamingos a strong advantage before next Saturday’s return leg in Ikenne-Remo, nearing Morocco 2026 qualification.
