The Joint Security Team of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has arrested a suspected non-student found in possession of a pistol on the university campus during the ongoing second semester examinations.
The suspect was apprehended on Monday during a routine surveillance operation conducted across strategic locations within the institution to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for students sitting for their examinations.
According to the university management, the individual was intercepted by vigilant security personnel while on campus and was discovered to be carrying a pistol.
The suspect is currently in custody as preliminary investigations continue to determine his identity, the purpose of his presence on the campus and any possible links to criminal activities.
The university management assured students and members of the public that further details would be made available as investigations progress.
The institution also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security and ensuring a conducive environment for academic activities.
