Ogun teachers endorse Yayi for 2027 governorship election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has been endorsed by teachers across the state as their preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

The endorsement was announced during an interactive session with teachers held at the Ake Pavilion in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, on Monday, August 3, 2026.

The endorsement was jointly endorsed by the leadership of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), the Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON), the Association of Primary School Teachers of Nigeria (APSTON), the Egba Teachers Association (EGTA), Distinguished Educators, the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), and YAYI Teachers.

The State Executive members and executives from the 20 local government areas signed the endorsement document, which was subsequently ratified through a voice vote by thousands of teachers in attendance.

Responding to the endorsement, Yayi expressed gratitude to the teachers for their support and confidence in his leadership, pledging to make education a cornerstone of his administration through sustained investment in educational infrastructure, enhanced teachers’ welfare, improved learning environments, and policies aimed at raising the standard of education across Ogun State.

Yayi said: “I am deeply humbled by this overwhelming endorsement from our teachers. Education remains the foundation of sustainable development, and no society can make meaningful progress without motivated teachers and a functional education system.

“I assure you that the confidence reposed in me will be rewarded with purposeful leadership that prioritizes quality education, improved welfare for teachers, and greater opportunities for our children.”

The event was attended by Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele; the APC deputy governorship candidate, Ogun State, Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun; and former Deputy Governors Salmot Badru and Yetunde Onanuga; among others.
