RCCG founder’s daughter dismisses viral claims of rift with church leadership

Pastor Titilayo Adewale, a daughter of the founder of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pa Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi, has denied issuing a statement accusing the church’s leadership of neglecting her father’s legacy.

In a statement shared on her Facebook page on Monday, Adewale described the viral publication attributed to her as false, insisting she never criticised the church or its General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.

“My attention has been drawn to a statement attributed to me regarding The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A. Adeboye and the legacy of my father. I want to clarify that the statement attributed to me is not from me, either implicitly or explicitly,” she said.

The viral report had claimed that she lamented that many senior pastors in the church were unaware that her father founded the RCCG and had called for greater recognition of his contributions.

Refuting the claims, Adewale said her father never sought earthly recognition and would not have been concerned about whether his name or image was displayed on church buildings or institutions.

She added that the late Akindayomi believed his greatest legacy was the lives he impacted rather than physical structures.

“The most significant legacy is not buildings or institutions but individuals. My father consistently believed in building people rather than merely constructing buildings,” she said.

According to her, the late cleric was never interested in accumulating wealth or personal property during his lifetime, making it unlikely that he would have desired public recognition through monuments.

Adewale alleged that the false reports were intended to create division within the church and distract from its mission.

“In my opinion, this news and similar ones are not about me, my father or even the leadership of the RCCG. Instead, they are intended to create unnecessary arguments and discord,” she said.

She urged those behind the reports to stop spreading misinformation and offered prayers for Pastor Adeboye, his family and the leadership of the church.

Adewale also wished members of the RCCG a successful annual convention, praying for continued unity and God’s guidance for the church.
