The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to declare Ondo State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
Aiyedatiwa, a former deputy governor who became the number one citizen of the Sunshine State in December 2023 following the demise of his principal, Rotimi Akeredolu, defeated Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 16, 2024, gubernatorial election.
Ajayi, a former member of the House of Representatives, also served as the deputy governor of Ondo State for four years (2017 to 2021) under Akeredolu.
Ondo election: APC’s Aiyedatiwa leads in 15 LGs
According to the results announced by the State Returning Officer for the governorship election, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, Governor Aiyedatiwa won in all 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State.
The governor polled 366,781 votes, while Ajayi garnered 117,835 votes across the 18 Local Government Areas.
