‘Ondo not stagnant’: OGGA debunks group’s claims against Aiyedatiwa’s govt

The Ondo Good Governance Alliance (OGGA) has condemned a report issued by the Ondo Redemption Front against the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

In a statement signed by its chairman, Samuel Adegbite, the OGGA described the document as a deliberate attempt to misrepresent facts and discredit Aiyedatiwa.

The group said Aiyedatiwa has, in just six months in office, demonstrated purposeful leadership and achieved measurable results across key sectors.

According to the group, contrary to claims of “directionless governance,” Ondo State under Aiyedatiwa is recording progress in security, infrastructure, healthcare, education, youth empowerment, and economic growth.

It noted that the Aiyedatiwa administration has recorded many achievements in various sectors, including security, healthcare, infrastructure, education, and economy, among others.

The OGGA stated: “Ondo remains one of the safest states in Nigeria, with the reinforcement of the Amotekun Corps, deployment of drones, and distribution of over 25 operational vehicles to security agencies in the state. The signing of the Anti-Kidnapping Law has further strengthened deterrence against crime.

Ondo: Lessons from success story on security

“Ongoing works include the Ondo State Judiciary Quarters, Rehabilitation of the 25.7km Idanre – Alaelefonsan road, Epe junction – (Ondo/Ife road) – Epe-Laworo-Atamo-Gloryfield High School – Ile Oluji road, Somorika (Supare) – Aba Balogun – Igboegun – Emure Iṣẹ road, some internal roads in Akure and its environ to ease movement and support rural trade. Expansion of the Ondo Deep Sea Port project to drive tourism business.

“Recruitment of health workers, revitalisation of Mother and Child Hospitals.

“Thousands of students have benefited from free WAEC fully paid by government, while over 5,000 youths are being trained under the Ondo Digital Skills Programme.

“The government has boosted agriculture with inputs for 10,000 farmers, promoted industrial investment, prompt payment of salaries and pensions, and launched a Social Welfare Scheme for widows and the elderly.”

On allegations of a N240 billion bond and N12 billion kickbacks, the OGGA described the claims as baseless, noting that all financial records are open, audited, and verifiable.

“The people of Ondo overwhelmingly voted Governor Aiyedatiwa with 72% of the ballots in November 2024. In less than six months, his performance is already visible. Ondo is not stagnant, Ondo is moving forward,” the group added.
