OPM founder offers financial support to suitor for autistic adopted daughter

The founder of Omega Power Ministries, Chibuzor Chinyere, has announced plans to give one of his adopted daughters, a 21-year-old woman living with autism, out in marriage, with a package of financial and welfare incentives attached.

Chinyere made the disclosure in a Facebook post on Tuesday, stating that the move was intended to secure the young woman’s long-term care, safety, and happiness.

According to him, the woman, identified as Chiemeka Chibuzor, is able to speak and hear clearly despite being autistic.

He invited interested suitors, stressing that only a young man who is physically and mentally sound would be considered.

As part of the arrangement, the cleric promised lifetime financial support for the couple, a free house to live in permanently, and a property to be built in the joint names of both husband and wife.

He also said Omega Power Ministries staff would conduct unscheduled visits from time to time to ensure the woman is being treated well and adequately protected.

Chinyere explained that the initiative was designed to guarantee her welfare and provide her with a stable family life.

The development comes weeks after the pastor facilitated the marriage of another adopted child, a non-verbal autistic man popularly known as Aboy, to an older woman in a ceremony held on March 29.

That union generated widespread reactions, with many Nigerians questioning issues around consent, dignity, and the morality of arranging marriages for individuals with cognitive disabilities.

Following the criticism, Chinyere gifted the man, later renamed Elijah, a Lexus car, a plot of land, and named him an ambassador of the church’s free school for children with autism and Down syndrome.
