Abia State Governor-elect, Dr Alex Otti, has accused the state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, of employment racketeering in the state civil service.

Otti, on Thursday, said illegal employment was ongoing in different ministries and parastatals in the state.

“This action which is geared towards laying a needless landmine for the incoming government has shown how unpatriotic and selfish the perpetrators are,” he said.

In his reaction, Governor Ikpeazu described the allegations as “preposterous and anachronistic”, adding that his actions were constitutional.

The governor, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, said he remains the governor of Abia State till May 29, 2023, stressing that he has powers to perform his constitutional assignments.
