Overflowing Addallawa dam claims three lives in Katsina

At least three people have died after the Addallawa Dam overflowed, washing away part of the Dankama-Birnin Kuka Road in Katsina State.

The incident occurred at about 12:42 p.m. on August 8, 2025, when the dam breached its limits, causing the partial collapse of a bridge along the road.

Three bodies were later recovered from the floodwaters.

Two of the victims have been identified as 22-year-old Amadu Danladi and 23-year-old Amiru Dantsare, while the third remains unidentified.

The corpses have been deposited at the General Hospital in Kaita.

Authorities are currently assessing the damage and taking measures to prevent further casualties.
