The Oyo State Government has lifted the curfew imposed on 10 Local Government Areas following the recent kidnapping incident in the Oriire area of the state.
The Oyo State Government initially imposed a 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. curfew on the affected LGAs but later extended it by 24 hours on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
The LGAs, which include Atiba, Atisbo, Irepo, Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Olorunsogo, Oriire, Oorelope, Saki West, and Saki East, border the Old Oyo National Park.

However, the Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, in a statement issued on Saturday, said residents can now resume their normal activities.
Oyelade expressed appreciation for the cooperation and understanding of the people in the affected areas.
The commissioner added that the state government was closely monitoring the security situation and reassured residents that efforts are ongoing to bring the kidnapping episode to an end.
