PDP sets up national caretaker c’ttee as NWC tenure expires

As the tenure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) comes to an end on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) has established a National Caretaker Committee to oversee its affairs until a national convention is conducted.

The decision was announced at the 104th NEC meeting held in Abuja on Sunday, December 7, 2025.

The 13-member Caretaker Committee is chaired by Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed, with Senator Samuel Anyanwu serving as Secretary.

Other members include National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), National Organising Secretary Hon. Umar M. Bature, Dr. Kyari Grema, Hon. Janguda Haruna Mohammed, Barr. Okechukwu Osuana, Senator Nwogu Olaka, Senator Sandy Onor, Prof. Adenike Ogunse, Hon. Bisi Kolawole, Engr. Deji Doherty, and Dr. Ibrahim Bala Aboki.

The committee has been mandated to manage the party’s activities for a 60-day period, during which all pending state congresses are to be concluded, culminating in the conduct of a national convention.

The move is part of the PDP’s ongoing efforts to ensure continuity, strengthen internal democracy, and maintain organizational stability across all party structures.
