A chef, Damilola Adeparusi, has commenced a 120-hour cooking marathon in Ilupeju, Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
This is coming barely a few weeks after Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, broke the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual with a 100-hour record time.
Adeparusi has hit 15 hours of the 120 hours earmarked for the cooking marathon as of press time.
The Guinness World Records had, in May 2023, said it would verify the longest cooking time set by Hilda Baci.

Hilda Baci, who set up a four-day ‘cook-a-thon’ at Amore Gardens in the Lekki area of Lagos State on May 11, hit 87 hours 50 minutes to surpass the Guinness World Record on Monday, May 15.
After breaking the record, the 27-year-old restaurateur decided to go a step further by setting a new record of 100 hours.
The current record for the world’s longest cooking marathon is held by Lata Tondon who completed the task in 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 secs in Rewa, India, in 2019.
Speaking on the development, the Guinness World Records said its officials would review Hilda Baci’s cooking before declaring the record official.
It has however yet to declare the record official.
