Phyna’s sister, Ruth Otabor, dies after Dangote truck accident

Ruth Otabor, the sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, has been confirmed dead.

The family announced Ruth’s death via a statement issued by Eko Solicitors & Advocates, on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

The family disclosed that Ruth passed away at about 6:30 a.m. on Sunday.

“With a heavy heart, the family regrets to announce the passing on to glory of their daughter, sister, and mother on this 31st Day of August, 2025 at about 06:30Hrs,” the family noted.

Dangote speaks as Phyna’s sister loses leg in truck accident

The family stated that they are grieving and requested privacy to mourn Ruth, adding: “The funeral arrangement will be communicated to the public in due course.”

Ruth had suffered a tragic accident just weeks earlier.

She underwent a leg amputation after being hit by a truck belonging to Dangote Group near Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, on August 13, 2025.

Eyewitnesses said the heavy-duty truck crushed her leg before a bystander eventually stopped it.

The accident occurred only six days after Ruth graduated from Auchi Polytechnic.
