Police arrest Air Force personnel over robbery, abduction in Oyo

A serving personnel of the Nigerian Air Force has been arrested in Oyo State over an alleged armed robbery and abduction in Ibadan, the Nigeria Police Force has said.

The suspect was apprehended by police operatives on September 17 after investigators began probing the incident, according to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu.

Police also recovered a blue Toyota Camry allegedly linked to the operation.

The arrest was listed among the operational successes recorded by the Oyo State Police Command in the Force’s state-by-state executive summary released on Sunday.

In another operation, police arrested three suspected members and associates of a kidnapping syndicate in the state.

The arrests followed intelligence received by the police on September 18. One of the suspects was apprehended at Kanbi Village in Atisbo Local Government Area, while two others were arrested for allegedly providing cover for the syndicate’s activities.

The police said investigations into the cases are being conducted by the State Criminal Investigation Department in Ibadan.

The Force did not release the identities of the suspects or provide details of the alleged robbery, abduction or kidnapping incidents.

The arrests form part of ongoing police operations targeting violent crimes, including kidnapping and armed robbery, in different parts of the country.
