The Ogun State Police Command says it has detained an Inspector for orderly room trial, over alleged assault and extortion of a woman at a checkpoint in Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
Odutola noted that the decisive action was taken by the police authority in the state following a complaint lodged by a 24-year-old woman, Funmilola Soyemi, on January 13, which led to a thorough investigation conducted by the Ogun State Criminal Investigation Department.
The police spokesperson stated that the investigation confirmed the officer’s misconduct, including tracing the account number into which the money extorted was deposited.
Odutola added that the money had been recovered and marked as an exhibit.
