The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 65-year-old man, identified as Akpan Godwin, for allegedly being in possession of 1,100 rounds of live ammunition in Nkpor, Onitsha.
Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed in a statement on Saturday that operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Akwuzu, carried out the arrest on Friday following credible intelligence.
Ikenga said the suspect, during interrogation, confessed to engaging in the illegal sale of ammunition and named other individuals believed to be involved in the trade.
He added that a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the fleeing accomplices, assuring that further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
